Ilog Maria Honey & Propolis Shampoo

Sometimes my hair just goes on strike, and not even my favorite shampoo can coax it into having some life and body. At this point, I learned, you're supposed to remove all the product residue from your hair and start all over again.

I used to use Neutrogena Anti Residue Shampoo, which was made especially for this. You use it once a week and get reborn hair. Then it's back to your regular routine. Unfortunately, I found out that they recently stopped distributing this in the Philippines.

Neutrogena Anti Residue Shampoo

The good thing is, I discovered Honey and Propolis Shampoo from Ilog Maria Bee Farm in Tagaytay. I'm a sucker for organic/natural products, so I just had to buy this and try it out.

Ilog Maria is a farm in Tagaytay that was started by Joel Magsaysay after he got sick of corporate life in Manila. He and his family now live here full time and develop products from the bee farm, including this shampoo. Visit the Ilog Maria website to see what other products they offer.

Originally, I wasn't very happy with the results. The shampoo felt too liquid when poured, and it didn't lather properly so my hair felt only half clean (their website has an explanation for this, actually, but still). But then I experimented, first using my regular shampoo and then finishing off with this product, and wow! Super squeaky clean hair! Plus with a nice peppermint tingle.

Ilog Maria's Honey and Propolis Shampoo is P154 for 275g and P77 for 125g (pictured above).

How to buy:

The Magsaysays are not yet ready for wide distribution, so currently, there are only two ways to buy their products.

  1. Go to Ilog Maria in Tagaytay and visit their store, open from Tuesdays to Sundays, 10am to 5pm. Contact information and driving directions here

  2. Buy online through their website. See product catalogue

Check out their other products, too!

couldn't agree more! it's even better if you will use fresh calamansi (as conditioner) right after you shampoo.. but you have to bear the smell of calamansi in your hair after bath

Thanks for the tip! The instructions in the Honey Propolis bottle also say the same thing. I'll give this a try...

Hi neyvillones, I tried your tip of using calamansi after shampooing with Ilog Maria and I'm a convert! My hair felt soft and smooth and clean. It's the perfect conditioner. And the smell of the calamansi isn't even that strong. Thanks again for sharing!
